Care Home Petition

The HSCN has formally asked the Public Petitions Committee of the Scottish Parliament to consider the following Petition:

Petition by Dr H I McNamara, on behalf of Highland Senior Citizens Network, calling for the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to ensure that a greater proportion of residential care places for the elderly are provided for and staffed by the statutory sector, particularly in rural areas.

The Public Petitions Committee considered it on 15 January.  They decided to write to the Government to ask it to assess what should be the minimum provision in the public sector and to issue guidance on that or to include the matter in its concordat with local government.
